No Ukrainian Mobilization

Hmm, it just seems strange to me

I don't quite understand the strategy that the Ukrainian national leadership is taking on preparing their nation to repel a Russian attack.

Maybe the thinking is that they don't want to provoke Russia, but it doesn't look like there is much that will deter an invasion at this point.

Perhaps, the plan is to "not put up a fight." They could declare Kiev an "open city" and not try to defend it in order to avoid mass casualties. Should the Russians have a full-out invasion of the entire nation.

Or, it could be pure ineptitude on the part of the leadership, misjudging what is going to happen in the near future.

Mobilization of reserve forces, recalling veterans to service and forming up new units and reinforcing existing ones takes time. From everything I've read, this has not been done in any significant way.

For me, I'd be pre-wiring bridges with no easy bypass for destruction. I'd be looking at how you could channelize attacking forces into kill zones as they attempt to enter cities.

Most importantly, I'd be galvanizing mentally my nation's citizens to fight to protect their homeland, and how an active guerrilla war could be fought should the nation's defenses be overrun by a conventional attack.
