(TNS) — The University of New Mexico's business school is now offering free professional certificates and online continuing education classes to students, faculty and staff.

The university is making courses available through the online learning platform Coursera, which offers classes in digital skills like coding, software engineering, data analytics, website design and cybersecurity.

Coursera, founded in 2012 by two Stanford University professors, offers professional certificates from Google, IBM and Meta in various computer science disciplines. The online platform has partnerships with more than 350 universities, according to its website.

"This partnership represents another way we're ensuring our students are career-ready from day one," said Alina Chircu, Dean of the UNM Anderson School of Management, in a statement. The Coursera classes, Chircu said, equip Anderson students with tools to make them "even more competitive in the job market."

Professors at Anderson are incorporating the Coursera models into coursework, school officials said. Faculty can select certain content and certifications for their students to complete.

The programs are being made available to all students at Anderson at no additional cost, said Jillian Frye, spokesperson for the school. Faculty and staff at the business school can also take the courses as a professional development resource, UNM officials said.
