Florida Student Surveys Underscore the Online Testing Problems of 2015

Student surveys show their experience with the state tests.

As Florida prepares for online state tests this month, its leaders have a clearer picture of how testing went down last year for students.

Nearly 15 percent of more than 373,000 students said they had computer problems with the math exam or reading section, according to survey answers released by the Florida Department of Education. The Orlando Sentinel reports that about 1.6 million students took a state test with the online system last year, and it's possible that the students who filled out the survey had more to complain about. Still, the results point to some areas that the state could improve this year.

On the positive side, that means about 85 percent of students may not have had any technical issues — a big deal for the test's first go around. More than 91 percent of students said they had enough time to take the test. And along with that, most of them didn't have any trouble submitting the test once they finished.
