January 20, 2009 - The Emergency Information Infrastructure Partnership (EIIP) is pleased to announce that Dan E. Summers, CEM and Bruce S. Binder, MFH, CEM have joined the EIIP Board of Directors, recently beginning two-year terms. Both gentlemen are highly experienced emergency management professionals and will bring a practitioner perspective in addition to their depth of knowledge.
Dan Summers is currently the Director of the Collier County Bureau of Emergency Services for Collier County Government in Naples, Florida. Mr. Summers holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services with a concentration in Disaster Management from Thomas Edison State College, in Trenton, New Jersey. He is a graduate of FEMA's Professional Development Series, holds a Certified Emergency Manager designation and a North Carolina Professional Development Level 4 certification. Mr. Summers has over 23 years of disaster and emergency services management experience.
Bruce Binder has worked in emergency management for over 25 years at the local, state, and federal levels. He currently provides technical consulting services for emergency management agencies, state agencies, public health agencies, and hospitals throughout the Unites States and Canada. Activities include writing plans, writing and conducting exercises, and assessing current systems. Bruce also serves as a Disaster Assistance Employee (DAE) with FEMA, assisting the management of responses to a number of declared disasters as a Chief of Staff, Special Assistant to the FCO, Planning Section Chief, and other roles.
The new members join current Board Members Joanne McGlown (Chair), Stephen Bender, Frances Edwards, Eric Holdeman, Jane Kushma, Elysa Jones and Christopher Saeger, all distinguished experts in emergency management in their professional capacities.
