Amtrak Focus on Safety

Amtrak to take stand on 'safety first.'

Earlier I blogged on the fact that there have been and continues to be, too many accidents involving Amtrak passenger trains.

Now here today, there is this, Amtrak: We'll stop service on tracks lacking speed controls. If they follow through on this, it is a great example for putting safety first over operational needs. I hope they are able to "hold the line" on this position to leverage the railroads that their trains run on to implement positive train control.
