Chile Wildfires Claim 112 Lives — So Far

It is summer in Chile.

Around the globe, wildfire season never ends. With the Northern Hemisphere in winter, that means the Southern Hemisphere is experiencing summer.

As we have seen in many areas of the world, heat and drought combine to create wildfire flashpoints. Chile is the most recent to experience an intense wildfire storm and everything it brings. See this article: “At least 112 dead as authorities struggle to contain forest fires in Chile,” from The Guardian.

One twist to this story is that arson is suspected because of simultaneous ignitions at four different points.

This is also the time of year when we see Australian wildfires become prominent in the news. None yet that have made international news, but their time may be coming.
