DZTV: Drone 101 for Emergency Managers

How do drones work and what are some of the restrictions on their use?

I of course have been writing about drones for years. Just recently I had the opportunity to interview Brandon McDonald who owns and operates a more sophisticated drone about how they work and what some of the operational parameters are for his particular quad-copter. Check out DZTV: Drones for a 30-minute program on the topic.

There are myriad ways that drones, also called UAV or UAS, can provide a public benefit to emergency management and first responder programs. This program also touches on a few of those potential uses.

With all the negative publicity that surrounds drones, we also need to get the message out about how they provide a tremendous public benefit.
