Expect Cruise Lines to Suspend Operations

With COVID-19 now a pandemic, cruises will likely shut down.

Watch for announcements coming very soon about cruise operations being suspended for the foreseeable future. This will impact both ocean and river cruises that have also become popular.

For now, this is "The Really Big One" for that industry and everyone that supports it and economically feeds off of it.

Other tourist activities are sure to be impacted also.

Note that the King County Executive, Dow Constantine (think Seattle) is recommending that conventions consider postponing if possible. How is that for an "economic development message!"

Update as of 9:00 a.m. Pacific. Princess cruise lines will suspend operations for 60 days. Viking cruise lines is also suspending operations for both river and ocean cruises. More cruise lines will likely follow their lead.
