Intentional Firearms Damages to 4 Substations

Vandalism or terrorism?

Check out this report: “Gunfire caused damage that led to Moore County blackout; schools closed Monday.”

Firearms damage to one substation is one thing. Perhaps some kid taking potshots at anything they think is a target? Maybe there were no traffic signs to shoot at!

But, when there are four substations it takes on an entirely different perspective. You can guarantee that the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will be actively engaged in this event.

It reminds me of a very prominent attack on one particular substation that was well documented and never solved, as I recall: Metcalf sniper attack.

This is just another highlight on how open our infrastructure is to being impacted by people looking to cause damages. I’ve been a bit surprised that there have not been more copycat attacks following the Metcalf incident.

Stay tuned for more news on this event.
