New Director NW Healthcare Response Network

Onora Lien, who had been filling in as the acting executive director, has been named the permanent executive director.

Great news! Onora Lien, who had been filling in as the acting/interim executive director, has been named the permanent executive director for the NW Healthcare Response Network. An excerpt from the announcement is below:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that we have named Onora Lien the executive director of the Northwest Healthcare Response Network, effective immediately.

Since assuming the interim executive director role last fall, Onora has led the organization through a successful transition out of Public Health Seattle & King County to an independent nonprofit, and has established a solid foundation for its growth.

Onora brings more than 13 years of experience working in health care and public health focused emergency preparedness and emergency management experience. Between 2006-2014 she served as a program manager at Public Health – Seattle & King County, working as a leader within the Northwest Healthcare Response Network and its predecessor King County Healthcare Coalition team. Prior to this, Onora worked as a research and policy analyst on issues related to homeland security and public health preparedness in the metropolitan Washington DC area. Throughout her career Onora has demonstrated leadership, subject-matter expertise, commitment to collaboration and building effective public-private partnerships.

In case you missed it, I recently did a Disaster Zone TV show with Onora about the NW Healthcare Response Network.

Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
