911 Tech Firm GovWorx Gains Investment From Serent Capital

The move represents the latest example of investors putting capital into the emergency dispatch technology space, which is rapidly growing. GovWorx uses artificial intelligence to help 911 call centers improve operations.

GovWorx, a young company trying to build a presence in the emergency dispatch space, has gained a growth investment from Serent Capital, the latest example of private equity activity in government technology.

The details of the investment were not revealed.

A spokesperson for Serent told Government Technology the investment will “support the company’s continued expansion and innovation in public safety technology.”

Denver-based GovWorx launched in 2023.

It specializes in what it describes as “AI-powered” quality assurance (QA), training and other tools for emergency communications. CommsCoach, the company’s flagship product, offers automated evaluations, real-time feedback and training for dispatch center personnel.

According to a statement, the company has more than 100 customers. Its latest products include QA and report-generation tools for law enforcement and EMS.

“This partnership is a major milestone for GovWorx,” said Scott MacDonald, co-founder and CEO of GovWorx, in the statement. “We’ve been fortunate to help so many public safety agencies early on, and partnering with Serent allows us to scale faster, build smarter, and help so many more.”

The new investment promises to spark more product development and help the company expand its go-to-market capabilities, according to the statement.

“We believe GovWorx is uniquely positioned to bring transformative technology to 911 centers and beyond,” said Stewart Lynn, partner at Serent Capital, in the statement.

This stands as the fifth government technology investment in four years for Serent. That includes its investment in BS&A, which sells enterprise resource planning software to cities.
