Personnel Turmoil in the Top Job

This time it is Wyoming and IT.

In emergency management we are continuing to go through an intense period of personnel turmoil as people retire from the profession, other people move up, and then others backfill those who get promoted.

Then there is this: “Wyoming CIO Bill Vajda Resigns After Less Than a Year.” That type of turmoil is never good for an organization.

The reasons could be personal, health, marital or professional differences with other senior leaders in other state departments. But it just sets an organization back on its heels.

Hiring is where I’ve made my worst mistakes. Be very careful when making your candidate choices! I’m a “trust your gut” type of guy.
