Plano, Texas, Homeland Security Develops Web Section for Scout Badge Requirements

For Boy Scouts, the Emergency Preparedness Badge is large in scope and a requirement for those pursuing the prestigious Eagle Scout ranking.

As part of National Preparedness month, the Plano, Texas, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has created a special section on its Web site devoted to aiding scouts with badge requirements.

Materials provided on the new section, though formatted after the Boy Scout Emergency Preparedness Badge requirements, will be diverse enough to aid a variety of scouting organization badge requirements. As information on new badge requirements is brought to the attention of Plano DHS, the section will be updated. Scouts will also learn about Plano-specific hazards and potential household hazards. The section will help scouts prepare their families for emergencies, as well as complete the merit badge challenge.

For Boy Scouts, the Emergency Preparedness Badge is large in scope and a requirement for those pursuing the prestigious Eagle Scout ranking. The Plano DHS Scout Section meets all the Boy Scout Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge requirements not related to scout presentations to merit badge counselors, which require direct interaction with the leader of the individual's scout troop.
