PPE Shortages to Continue

Surprise--we are not over with PPE shortages

You would think that six months into a pandemic that shortages of Personal Protective Equipment used by medical personnel and first responders would have been fixed. Not yet!

I saw a news report on the testimony before congress this past week. In it a report from the association of manufacturers who represent medical equipment manufacturers was cited as saying that they expect a shortage of 30 million N95 masks--per month.

The fact that we are this far into our response and we have not had a national strategy to fix production issues here in the United States is a testament to a grave failure in planning and execution at the national level.

Emergency managers, especially those in the South and Southwest, get ready to be involved in prioritizing who gets PPE and distributing the same to organizations in your jurisdictions.
