Slider Map Showing Hawaii Destruction

This one hits home.

The destruction in Hawaii has hit harder for a lot of people because so many have visited Maui and enjoyed walking the streets of Lahaina.

That and the death toll, which keeps climbing, are a reminder that death and destruction can happen anywhere. Don’t think that you are immune to it where you live.

See this message and then the slider map that shows the before and after images from the fire.

“Esri has published a new interactive map with imagery from Maxar that shows the destruction caused by the wildfires burning in Maui, Hawaii. The app, which uses post-event imagery captured by Maxar on August 9, 2023, shows what Maui and specific communities such as Lahaina look like before and after the wildfire. You can use the bookmarks in the upper right to explore impacts in Kihei, Pukalani, and Central Maui. You can zoom in to see damage to individual buildings and the overall environment.”

Esri shared the information above.
