"I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce The Social Simulator -- a hands-on, private digital environment that enables realistic and interactive traditional and social media crisis simulations to help governments and emergency agencies test how they would mount and co-ordinate their communications effort in the event of a significant and high-profile multi-agency emergency.
We are the official partner of the UK Government Home Office -- the national government department responsible for overseeing national emergency preparedness training. As such, we provide authentic pseudo media services as part of national Tier 1 emergency simulation exercises.
We recently provided pseudo media services for Exercise Strong Tower, a multi-agency exercise run over the course of two days in London, based on a scenario involving multiple terrorist attacks. Due to its size and complexity, the exercise generated significant volumes of real-world media coverage.
Over the course of the exercise, we replicated the traditional and social media fallout that would have accompanied a real-life situation using our simulator platform; testing how participating agencies harnessed social media channels to monitor for significant developments, share information and issue guidance.
The Simulator is based on a combination of proprietary software modules that can simulate interactions via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, blogs and online media articles – backed up with intelligent humans behind the scenes role-playing social media characters during the exercise.

My advice to these guys is they are going to have to work hard to find creative people who are ready to take the plunge. So far I've not been that successful in my hunt for people and agencies who want to capitalize on what social media can do for them.
