I’m not sure that it was ever envisioned that the National Guard would be deployed to drive school buses. What is happening is that governors have discovered that they have a very flexible workforce that is highly motivated and organized and can be thrown into the breach of any disaster, emergency or, in the above case, need.

I’m wondering if staffing daycare facilities might be next.
