The Coronavirus Variants

There will be more variants in our future.

60 Minutes recently did a nice job on explaining where the coronavirus variants are coming from and their potential impact: "The coronavirus variants experts are most concerned about."

The segment is well worth watching. They didn't hammer on this too much, but the fact of the matter is we will continue to have new variants come to the fore as long as we have high rates of transmission and infection — anywhere in the world.

In the race between vaccinating people here in the United States and the spread of the "current" variants, I still give the nod to the variants in winning the current race. Watch for the "Fourth Wave" of infections, hospitalizations and deaths coming in April and May.
