The Difference Between an Epidemic and a Pandemic

Know your terms when talking about the coronavirus 2019-nCoV.

There are other epidemiology terms being tossed around these days when it comes to the coronavirus 2019-nCoV.  Be sure you understand the differences when it comes to the Difference Between an Epidemic and a Pandemic

I'm not a medical professional, but it appeared to me that in China they suffered an "outbreak" of a new disease with the detection of the coronavirus in December 2019. It is not a pandemic at present, and all health organizations, from your local public and state public health, the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, are striving to contain the spread of the coronavirus, and not have it become an epidemic in other countries or a worldwide pandemic.

The last time I saw this much attention paid to a disease was the Ebola outbreak and worldwide concerns back in 2014.
