The Pandemic — It’s Not All Good News

The winter surge in cases may be beginning.

Everyone, including me, is ready for the pandemic to go the way of the dodo bird.

Unfortunately, however, cases are inching up again.

Here’s the latest from the University of Washington: “Insights from IHME’s latest COVID-19 model update.”

It is not that long, so take the time to read it. Basically, winter is upon us:
  • People are not social distancing
  • Behaviors have become more risky
  • People are traveling
  • Immunization protection may be waning
  • The flu season will complicate issues
  • Still a significant number of people remain unvaccinated

In my daily work we are trying to plan six 2022 spring workshops for maritime areas, followed by a larger regional workshop at the end. We are looking for physical locations while still having a backup plan for virtual events.

I’d like to go visit my sister around April-May in the Atlanta area where they moved three to four years ago. Hmm, then again maybe not.
