What Is the New CISA?

A name change makes everything better.

Sometimes I get frustrated by agencies changing their names. It reminds me of the old phrase, "You need a score card to keep track of the players." Occasionally, the functions change and therefore a name change is appropriate. And sometimes the leaders change and they think a name change would help.

Occasionally, for companies like Blackwater (not a government agency) you change your name because of bad press, e.g., "Blackwater Name Change: Private Security Firm Switches Name Again To Academi From Xe. An infamous company is attempting a complete brand makeover — again. The private security firm formerly known as Blackwater and most recently known as Xe has decided to change its name to Academi, according to The Washington Post."

With all that said, you will see CISA in the news much more often as they get out and about and work at their "rebranding" the agency from National Protection and Programs Directorate to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Thus, you will be seeing more stories like this,CISA’s Brian Harrell Focuses on Building Culture of Resiliency, One Threat at a Time.
