The office shared the news last Friday on Twitter, saying that Pfeil will help the commonwealth move closer to its goal of implementing data-driven policy, evidence-based decision-making and outcome-based performance management.

Former Gov. Ralph Northam created the role in 2018, appointingCarlos Rivero. In 2021, Rivero left the Office of Data Governance and Analytics to take on a vice president of data and analytics position at GCOM Software LLC.
Now, almost four months since Rivero’s departure, Pfeil will bring over a decade of industry experience to the job.
According to Pfeil’sLinkedIn page, his previous experience includes being vice president and managing director of data governance for OneMain Financial, a chief architect and chief information security officer for TechDemocracy LLC and a chief security officer for MFS Investment Management.
He also held other security-related positions at Capital IQ Inc., Miradiant Global Network, Microsoft and Merrill Lynch.
