(TNS) — Cobb County has launched a new and improved app for Apple and Android smartphones, designed to make it easier for residents to access county services and receive timely notifications about major incidents and local events.

The CobbGov app represents a significant upgrade from the county's previous mobile offering. It provides a user-friendly platform for reporting issues, paying bills, staying informed about upcoming events and connecting with key county services.

One of the app's most impactful features is real-time notifications, which were recently used to share updates about the All-Star Game festivities at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta.

"When severe weather approaches Cobb, we often urge residents to keep weather notification devices handy," said Cobb County Communications Director Ross Cavitt. "This app now gives residents a fast and reliable way to receive weather alerts and other important updates directly to their phones-whether it's a boil water advisory or a major traffic disruption."

After downloading the app, users can visit the Notifications tab to choose which alerts they'd like to receive. Residents are strongly encouraged to enable at least the Cobb Alerts and NWS Alerts categories to stay informed about critical countywide updates.

This method is faster and more cost-effective than the county's text message alerting system. Messages have been sent to that user group indicating that alerts will transition to the new app.

The app was developed by TheGovApp.com, a division of OCV LLC., which specializes in creating mobile applications for government agencies across the country. CobbGov provides quick access to a variety of features, including: News, Events, Board of Commissioners, Roads and Traffic, Maps/GIS, CobbTV and Notifications.

The app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Just search for "CobbGov or Cobb County Government, GA" or visit https://apps.myocv.com/share/a147630090.
