Tropos Networks Selected Finalist for the 2007 EE Times ACE Awards Company of the Year

Underscores Tropos leadership and innovation in the metro-scale Wi-Fi networks.

Tropos Networks has been selected as a finalist in the EE Times third Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards for small to medium size company of the year. The awards celebrate the creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global industry and shape the world we live in. These creators, and their innovations, will be recognized at the EE Times ACE Awards Gala on April 3, 2007, as part of CMP Technology's Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley, the largest electronic systems design event in North America.

"We chose Tropos as an ACE Awards Finalist for small/medium company of the year because their leadership and innovation in the development of metro-scale Wi-Fi networks has enabled cities, local residents and businesses to have better and more economical broadband services and applications than would have been otherwise possible," said Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief, EE Times. "Their disruptive technology has brought about positive and creative change. With mobile devices of all kinds now becoming Wi-Fi enabled, Tropos' technology is helping to usher in yet another new wave of wireless digital communications."

"Since 2002, Tropos has been the technology and market leader for anytime, anywhere, any device broadband access via citywide Wi-Fi networks," said Ron Sege, president and CEO of Tropos Networks. "The growth of these metro networks worldwide has been dramatic, enabling low-cost, ubiquitous broadband access for a myriad of life- and work- enhancing applications for consumers, businesses, public safety agencies and local government workers. As we enter into 2007, the widening range of Wi-Fi enabled mobile, multi-media devices will usher in an era of true Mobile Internet access."

Tropos is nominated in the category of company of the year (small/medium). This category considers companies that exhibit the highest degree of professionalism in staff development and retention, customer focus, technical excellence and profitable growth -- true leaders in the electronics sector with under $750 million in sales. The EE Times ACE Awards are presented in 18 categories and are judged by a blue-ribbon panel of industry experts, comprised of the leading voices of academia, industry and Wall Street executives.
