The Allentown, Tamaqua and Airport sites of Lehigh Carbon Community College reopened Monday. Students returned to the main campus in Schnecksville on March 10.
A college trustee who also serves on the Northern Lehigh School Board publicly identified the IT disruptions as the result of a data breach, but communications from the school to faculty and students have so far not used that term.
When the main campus in Schnecksville reopened, many services, including Wi-Fi, remained down, according to faculty and students who spoke to The Morning Call.
The latest email communication from the college to faculty and students states that in-person classes, meetings and college activities will resume at the satellite locations, but adds that Wi-Fi is only available at the Schnecksville campus.
Students at other campuses “should plan to use their own cellular data for their personal electronics,” the email states. A similar ask was made of students previously returning to the Schnecksville campus, according to prior email communications from the college to students.
Landline phone service remains unavailable, the latest email states, instructing students to use email to contact faculty and staff.
“All advising, counseling, and educational support appointments will continue as scheduled,” the email states, and students attending in-person classes should check Canvas for “any specific updates or online options provided by your instructors.”
