The grant from the Cowlitz Tribal Foundation in Clark County will go toward classroom technology for students and teachers at the Washington district, for which connectivity has been a challenge during the pandemic.

(TNS) —The La Center School District received a $90,000 grant from the Cowlitz Tribal Foundation Clark County fund for technology devices for students and teachers in the classroom, the district announced on Wednesday.

As La Center is not supported by a local tech levy, funding for the added needs for devices and connectivity brought on by the pandemic has been a continued challenge.

The nonprofit, which is an extension of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, is a regular donor to educational services and school districts in Clark County.

“Our district priority is educating students to become life-long learners who can thrive in a rapidly changing, more technologically advanced and diverse society,” said Wendy Chord, a member of the La Center School Board. “This generous grant that was made possible by the Cowlitz Tribe will allow us to work towards that mission.”
