6 Tips for Preventing and Surviving a Terrorist Attack

Events in Paris have Americans thinking about terrorism again.

Whatever the disaster or event is, attention in the form of bright lights are focused on the issue of the day. Because of the terrorist attacks in Paris, much is being written about how that might impact Americans and what should the average citizen do to be more prepared to "personally" counter terrorism.

See this article,6 tips for preventing and surviving a terrorist attack, which has some good tips in it. You will see I'm quoted and much of what I told the reporter was said by others, beginning with, "See something, say something."

One of the aspects of our modern media is the potential to incorporate other media into what might have only been a print news story. I like all the videos that the reporter included in his story which provides the reader with a wealth of additional information that is presented in a different format.

Garnering a sustained effort from the American public is a difficult task. I spoke about Israel and their people's attention to the issue -- but, terrorist violence is in their face every day. I expect parents caution their children about where to go, where not to go, etc. Here in the United States it is episodic, based on events. While it is on our radar today, in a couple of months, something else will have taken our attention.

For now terrorism presents the teachable moment.
