EMPG Survey Deadline is March 4th

This is your last chance to help protect your major source of funding.

The major source of emergency management funding to support the needs of state and local emergency management programs is the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM and National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) have done a great job of protecting the funding levels allocated to EMPG during an era of declining grant dollars across the board and have been able to tell the story about how these funds are being used and the difference they are making across the nation in improved levels of disaster preparedness.

However, they can't tell the story if they don't have any facts and figures to back up their claims, which is where you as a state and local emergency manager come into play.  See the information below and links to completing the survey--don't delay, the deadline is Tuesday, March 4th.

The President's Proposed 2015 Budget is also being released on this coming Tuesday and the positioning for grants will begin immediately.

IAEM EMPG Survey

Deadline extended — Local and Tribal Government Emergency Managers are urgently requested to respond to EMPG Survey

Due to the requests received from some IAEM-USA Regional Presidents and from states that have been dealing with severe weather, IAEM is extending the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Survey to the close of business, Mar. 4. Local government and tribal government emergency management office personnel are asked to take the survey today and help show Congress how effective EMPG is for your communities.Additional information, including a copy of the survey for informational purposes to assist in gathering information, is available on the IAEM-USA website under Government Affairs news. Many people who have started the survey have stopped when reaching the question relating to the annual budget of their emergency management department and the amount of their Emergency Management Performance Grant. Be prepared with this data prior to beginning the survey.
