YSU officials said in a news release that expanding the university’s online offerings is part of a broader institutional strategy to make higher education more accessible and career-oriented, especially for adult learners balancing personal and professional commitments.
“Our business programs are tailored to meet the needs of both our students and the region's workforce, equipping graduates with the expertise to drive economic growth and make meaningful contributions to their communities,” Betty Jo Licata, interim dean of the Williamson College of Business Administration, said in a public statement. “Expanding our offerings online provides increased accessibility beyond our region."
Launching in fall 2025, the new programs include:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science – Cybersecurity
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Business Administration
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Business Analytics and Economics
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management
- Bachelor of Arts in Communication
- Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Public Health
More details on the newly launched programs, along with eight other online undergraduate degrees offered by YSU, are available on the university’s website. Applications are open now, and classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 25.
YSU’s announcement follows a yearslong trend of expanding online offerings in higher education across the U.S. In recent months, this has included reports on the success of online lifelong learning programs at Southern Connecticut State University, the launch of new online PhD programs at Lawrence Tech in Michigan, the expansion of various online programs at Maine colleges and universities, remote courses in engineering at universities in North Dakota, and the launch of several new degree and certification programs at an online university based in Washington, D.C.
