Standards continue to be established for the emergency management discipline. The most recent comes from
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Quoting from their web page,
"ISO is a non-governmental organization established in 1947 and based in Geneva, Switzerland. Its mission is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity. ISO's work results in international agreements which are published as International Standards and other types of ISO documents."
ISO has a new standard out for emergency management, the bad news is that you have to pay for it to get it! The price listed on their website is $108.00, see
ISO 22320:2011 Societal security - Emergency management
I expect that I'll get it at some point since I'm interested in the topic and this "standards thing" like "performance measurement" is not going away anytime soon.
