As state and local governments across the U.S. seek to operationalize artificial intelligence within their daily operations, a major tech vendor working with those jurisdictions has released six new AI tools.

The new functionality comes from CivicPlus, which is perhaps best known for building municipal websites. However, the company offers many other gov tech products and services, and the new AI capabilities reflect that.

According to a news release, the tools are meant to “reduce manual work, streamline workflows and surface clearer operational insight.” The new tools are:
  • CivicPlus Agent: an agent in the Civic Impact Platform that integrates into CivicPlus products and answers users’ questions.
  • CivicPlus Athena: an agent within the CivicPlus Staff Center that can answer questions and streamline workflows.
  • AI Content Advisor in Municipal Websites: auditing and reporting focused on answer engine optimization and search engine optimization, as well as content quality issues.
  • AI Editing Assistant in Municipal Websites: AI assistant for generating content, improving writing and summarizing information.
  • AI Editing Assistant in Agenda and Meeting Management: AI assistant for drafting, polishing and formatting agenda items and minutes in real time.
  • AI-Improved Category Search and Photo Analysis in SeeClickFix 311 CRM: analyzes photo content and suggests the correct service request category.

The company noted in the news release that its AI offerings are developed with “human-in-the-loop safeguards, strong privacy protections, explainable AI and adaptability to evolving regulatory requirements.”

The AI tools are available through the Civic Impact Platform, and are part of the CivicPlus Intelligence road map.
