NEOGOV Acquires Public Safety Tech Firm PowerDetails

The PowerDetails platform helps law enforcement agencies manage off-duty shifts and special event assignments. The deal marks the latest move in the public safety space for NEOGOV, which offers HR tech for government.

NEOGOV, which sells human resources software to public agencies, has beefed up its public safety offering via the acquisition of PowerDetails.

Terms were not disclosed.

Law enforcement uses the PowerDetails software platform to manage off-duty operations and assignments to special events, and do so in a transparent way, according to a statement.

Such work, conducted outside normal shifts, can spark confusion and controversy, especially when policies are less than clear.

The deal gives NEOGOV even more presence in the public safety space — itself one of the main sources of energy for the ongoing robust growth of government technology, especially as AI takes on more importance.

Back in 2022, NEOGOV, backed by an infusion of private equity capital, bought three public safety tech firms that focused on scheduling, field training, community engagement and other tasks.

With PowerDetails, NEOGOV now offers on-duty and off-duty scheduling and comes closer to its goal of providing “unified workforce management for public safety agencies,” according to the statement.

PowerDetails is hardly a stranger to NEOGOV.

The newly acquired company launched in 2006 as part of what became PowerDMS by NEOGOV, spinning off in 2012. PowerDetails has more than 99,000 users and the platform has scheduled more than 7.5 million jobs.

"NEOGOV and PowerDetails have a longstanding relationship and a deep bench of shared customers, making this a natural fit, and an exciting opportunity to build on the history between our organizations," said Shane Evangelist, CEO of NEOGOV, in the statement.

NEOGOV, whose tech is used by more than 13,000 state, local and federal agencies, says PowerDetails will integrate into PowerTime, which is NEOGOV’s public safety scheduling tool.
