According to a news release this week, the merger will integrate EduNav into Ellucian’s SaaS portfolio, which includes tools for registration, academic planning, transfer acceptance and capacity planning. It said the integrated technologies will provide Ellucian users more tools to guide students through their degree programs, potentially expediting aspects of degree planning as well as institutional capacity planning to meet the institution's long-term goals.
“Today’s students are seeking skills for tomorrow’s workforce and institutions need the ability to plan ahead,” Ellucian CEO Laura Ipsen said in a public statement. “EduNav is highly complementary to our current portfolio. We are excited to offer a deeper set of tools for our higher-education customers as we deliver the most advanced solutions to power institutions to empower student success.”
The merger marks Ellucian’s second acquisition in three years, following its purchase of the financial aid SaaS platform CampusLogic in 2022.
EduNav CEO Andrew Brown said the merger will allow EduNav to reach more students and universities in need of student success and planning tools.
“With Ellucian’s vast community of institutions and focus on data to transform the student experience, EduNav will now have an even bigger impact on global higher education,” Brown said in a public statement.
Editor's Note: A previous version of this story said Ellucian acquired the U.K. company Tribal Group in 2023, as indicated on Crunchbase. While the transaction is listed on Crunchbase, in fact, the sale did not close.
