The Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity at Northwood is a 90-credit bachelor’s degree program with greater flexibility and a faster path to the workforce, university officials said. Northwood secured its place in offering the degree after being granted approval from the Higher Learning Commission.
“Northwood University is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in higher education,” Northwood University President Kent MacDonald said in a statement.
“This innovative program underscores our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable education that meets the needs of today’s students and competitive workplace. By offering an accelerated path to a cybersecurity degree, we are ensuring that students can gain the skills they need to enter this high-demand market while reducing costs and time to completion.”
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity was developed by Northwood’s leading management information systems and cybersecurity experts, Ann-Marie Horcher and David Sanford.
University officials noted that the program can improve access to higher education, increase student persistence and reduce total student debt while decreasing the time to degree completion.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the information security analyst will be the fifth fastest-growing occupation over the next decade, with an employment growth rate of 33 percent compared to the 4 percent average growth rate for all occupations, university officials noted.
