NASCIO also revealed several other officials who will guide the association in program year 2025-2026. Alan Fuller, the CIO of Utah, will serve as vice president, and Katrina Flory, Ohio CIO and Department of Administrative Services assistant director, will serve as secretary/treasurer.
NASCIO also announced the addition of new directors to its Executive Committee: Wyoming CIO Jeff Clines and Massachusetts CIO Jason Snyder. The full NASCIO Executive Committee now includes Nevada CIO Timothy Galluzi, Michigan CIO Laura Clark, Washington CIO Bill Kehoe, and Georgia CIO and Georgia Technology Authority Executive Director Shawnzia Thomas.
NASCIO’s Corporate Leadership Council chair role will be held by Michael Hussey, industry executive director with Oracle; he formerly served as its vice chair.
Sloan succeeds Texas CIO and Executive Director Amanda Crawford as the group’s president. He has served as Arizona’s CIO since 2020, following a stint as interim CIO. His approach to technology involves a data-centric strategy, especially as officials within Arizona look to advance AI.
“AI is not new,” he previously told Government Technology, noting that it is the technology’s capabilities that are growing and changing.
These announcements closely follow the annual NASCIO conference last week, during which officials explored better procurement strategies, the impacts of federal funding cuts, state-level AI work and more.
