The first day of school for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is on Monday, Aug. 28.
For students riding school buses, there’s an online resource for families to keep an eye on when they arrive on campus.
CMS uses a mobile app that allows families to check their child’s school bus routes. Here Comes the Bus is a free bus-tracking system, which the district has been using since 2017, that shows the real-time location of each bus on a map and scheduled and actual arrival times for stops.
Using GPS data, the app can be used on computers, tablets, or smartphones to provide text or email notification alerts of any changes.
Only eligible students who request transportation to and from their residence can ride buses. CMS officials say bus schedule information will be distributed to schools during the second week of August and sent directly to families along with other school information.
Signing up for the free bus tracking app before the new school year is not too late.
HOW TO GET THE CHARLOTTE SCHOOL BUS TRACKER
To get Here Comes the Bus, families must sign up online at login.herecomesthebus.com with the district code (73877) and student ID number.
The app can be downloaded from any smartphone or tablet from the App Store and Google Play.
