A Pennsylvania-based company that creates software for K-12 administrators has launched an analytics tool to assist with decisions for staff management.

Frontline Education, which offers tools for student programs, analytics, staff retention and business operations, developed Human Capital Analytics to do things like analyze absence patterns and trends, understand data on teacher candidates and vacancies, identify staffing needs by position, fill substitutes faster, build recruitment and hiring strategies and share professional development opportunities, according to a news release last week. The company said the new software, which utilizes the data from other solutions in its portfolio, is a complement to its Human Capital Management suite.

“K-12 district leaders have the critically important job of operating successful organizations that drive teaching and learning outcomes,” Frontline Education Chief Product Officer Kevin Haugh noted in a public statement. Haugh added that the tool will improve administrators’ “effectiveness to strategically plan and their ability to accelerate decision-making.”

The news release said Frontline’s new tool will give administrators interactive dashboards and guided analysis of metrics to help them make data-informed decisions about hiring, professional development, and absence and substitute placements.

Speaking about her school district’s transition to data-driven initiatives, Director of Assessment and Data Dawn Reuter-Cox of Consolidated High School District 230 in Illinois praised the tool’s contributions to district operations.

“Having access to real-time and contextually relevant data from Frontline Human Capital Analytics has transformed the way we are having conversations about staff absences,” Reuter-Cox said. “These conversations are critical to understanding and addressing student performance, teacher support and district finances, and the importance of having real data to contextualize those issues cannot be understated.”

Frontline’s new analytics tool comes on the heels of two software- and analytics-related acquisitions last year — Forecast5 Analytics, a collaborative group of software experts, and the automation and consulting company Hayes Software Systems.
