North Dakota DOT to Launch High School STEM Program

The North Dakota Department of Transportation's STEM Outreach Solutions program will give students in grades 9-12 and hands-on introduction to transportation and civil engineering work.

(TNS) — The North Dakota Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced the launch of a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education program.

The STEM Outreach Solutions program is a hands-on program with a focus on civil engineering. It is designed to be used in STEM classrooms in grades 9-12.

"STEM education is very important for the future of our transportation system," NDDOT Director Ron Henke said in a statement. "We are excited for this program and are looking forward to partnering with local schools in North Dakota to promote transportation careers."

The goal of the program is introduce students to the work of transportation and civil engineering in an effort to inspire them to consider careers in those fields.
