Polish Ed-Tech Company Brings STEAM Kits to U.S. K-12 Market

With a stamp of approval from ISTE, Skriware is expanding its reach to North America, making its collection of robotics, CAD, programming and 3D modeling tools available to grades 2-10 in U.S. schools.

An ed-tech company based in Poland is bringing its STEAM-focused educational materials to the North American K-12 market. Through a partnership with the Maryland-based New Ascent Education, and a Seal of Alignment certification from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) indicating consistency with educational standards, Skriware will offer its lesson plans and technology to grades 2-10 in U.S. schools, the company said in a news release last month.

Branded as SkriLab, Skriware’s “educational laboratory” comes with curriculum materials that focus on 3D printers and modeling programs, educational robots, engineering kits, and CAD and programming tools. Teachers also get access to a training platform, Skriware Academy, with over 20 e-courses that fit up to nine school subjects.

Skriware’s website says the tools essentially turn a standard classroom into a 3D printing and robotics lab, with the goal of inspiring students to pursue further education and careers in computer science and other technical fields.

Skriware’s announcement about entering the U.S. market comes on the heels of receiving the ISTE Seal of Alignment, which essentially says the company promotes critical technology skills, supports the appropriate use of tech, advances the teaching of technology and generally meets ISTE’s standards. The company’s news release said SkriLab has already been used in over 2,500 primary schools in Poland, and Skriware Chief Executive Officer Karol Górnowicz said in a public statement that he hopes the product can be as useful in the U.S.

“We receive very positive feedback from teachers and school principals, and the reports from the lessons conducted on Skriware equipment provided by the institutions clearly indicate students are more engaged,” Górnowicz said. “We hope we will be granted the same opportunity to help teachers raise students’ engagement in STEAM across North America.”
