SchoolAI Offers Free AI Readiness Program for Educators

Intended as a low-risk way to test drive generative artificial intelligence, the platform allows teachers to create content, set up AI-based classroom activities and view dashboards that track student progress.

On the heels of last month’s executive order to make artificial intelligence central to K-12 education, the software company SchoolAI has launched a free AI Readiness Program wherein teachers can experiment with the company’s AI platform for schools.

In districts that sign up for the program, teachers will have access to the SchoolAI Classroom Experience platform for five weeks, giving them a safe environment to explore what it’s like to use AI in the classroom, according to a news release.

The platform is certified by the nonprofit Internet Keep Safe Coalition as compliant with two major data-collection regulations, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and has also received third-party certifications for data security and privacy, per SchoolAI’s website.

Using Classroom Experience, K-12 teachers can create AI-based educational materials and activities for students and view dashboards that illustrate both learning gaps and opportunities, according to the news release. It added that more than 1 million classrooms are using the platform.

Along with access to the platform, the AI Readiness Program also includes a district consultation with the SchoolAI team, implementation support and educator training. SchoolAI founder and CEO Caleb Hicks said the goal is to give school leaders a low-risk way to test AI with their own teachers and students.

“AI literacy and readiness looks different in every community around the country. This is one of these moments where every school leader gets to lead with clarity, responsibility and support for educators,” Hicks said in a public statement. “We are all being invited to explore AI in thoughtful new ways, and we’re committed to working with and supporting them as they shape what readiness looks like in each and every classroom.”
