Galloping Gertie — Bridge Collapse

More than a snapshot.

I had seen short video snippets of the bridge collapsing, but this is a six-minute "full-length" video of the windblown takedown of a relatively new bridge — in 1940. Galloping Gertie Collapse.

It seems to me that with all the "movement" on the bridge, that it lasted longer than I thought it should have. I sure hope the construction company had insurance!

Now two bridges span the Tacoma Narrows waterway.
