Jordan Schulties, who serves as chief of administration for the state Department of Technology and Information (DTI), has been named acting state CIO, Gov. Matt Meyer announced Tuesday in a news release emailed to Government Technology. No reason was given for Lane’s resignation. Officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
“Greg Lane has been an integral leader in Delaware state government under multiple governors, serving as an effective steward of critical technology infrastructure,” Meyer said in a statement. “His experience in digital and technological services and his commitment to public service have added valuable contributions to our administration. I want to thank him for his service and his commitment to Delaware.”
Schulties will begin serving as interim CIO Wednesday, according to the news release. Her time at the state dates to 2016 and she has served as deputy director for the Delaware Division of Small Business, and state broadband infrastructure grant program manager. In 2021, she was promoted to be the director and chair of the Delaware Economic Development Authority; she joined DTI the following year.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware and is a licensed certified public accountant, per the state.
Lane, who joined Delaware in 2017 as its chief technology officer, began serving as CIO in July 2023. During his tenure as CIO, Lane helped to usher in security features like single sign-on for internal use by employees, as well as new guidance, education and policies surrounding the use of AI tools by state agencies.
