The Texas-based government technology giant says it has bought CloudGavel, which traces its history back to 2007.
Terms were not disclosed.
According to a statement from Tyler, the deal will bring such capabilities as anytime, anywhere e-warrant submissions for agencies using the technology, including on-scene warrants approved in minutes instead of hours; better warrant tracking, which can increase the safety of law enforcement officials who arrest at-large suspects; real-time updating of warrant status; and the reduction of “costly trips to the courthouse and data entry efforts.”
Baton Rouge-based CloudGavel had partnered with Tyler since 2023. The acquired company, with its management and staff, becomes part of Tyler’s Courts and Justice Division.
“Tyler and CloudGavel have a strong shared mission of empowering the public sector, supporting and expediting the justice process and delivering value for law enforcement and the judiciary,” said Rusty Smith, president of Tyler’s Justice Group.
The deal reflects Tyler’s continued focus on justice and public safety, the latter of which is a main fuel for not only growth in the general area of government technology but Tyler’s own financials.
Earlier this year, Tyler announced its acquisition of a company that sells software for fire and EMS operations. Meanwhile, gov tech suppliers continue to chase business opportunities in the court system, seeking to upgrade archaic systems while also bringing more artificial intelligence into the mix.
