BusPlanner, which was founded in 1983, provides routing software for school bus fleets throughout the United States and Canada. The new partnership will add the company's routing functions to Bytecurve360, a dispatch software tool from the Illinois-based Bytecurve, which also includes GPS tracking data, dispatch alerts, payroll services and communication tools.
According to Bytecurve CEO GP Singh, who started the company in 2018 after serving in senior management for a large school bus fleet operator, most clients using his company's platform are looking for a way to connect data between routing and GPS tracking to gain a 360-degree view of their operation.
“I know from experience working with school bus fleet managers that they trust BusPlanner and their GPS fleet-tracking providers to help them save time and money, and we’re excited to continue our growth to serve as that critical bridge between these two systems,” he said in a public statement.
Bytecurve's website describes data silos and fragmentation as one of the greatest challenges facing K-12 transportation systems. It says the integration with BusPlanner aims to break down those silos, allow for real-time tracking of buses and available drivers on the same dashboard, and ensure changes in one system are automatically reflected in the other. It also allows dispatchers to swap buses, replace absent drivers and reassign routes more efficiently.
BusPlanner is the latest of half a dozen software companies to add its functions to Bytecurve's routing software for school bus operators. Bytecurve has integration partnerships for its GPS and payroll offerings as well.
