(TNS) — Classes are canceled in the Spring Lake Park School District due to a suspected ransomware incident.

All child care, community education programs and after-school activities have also been called off on Monday, April 13, according to an announcement on the north metro school district’s website.

The district’s technology team on April 12 discovered that an “outside actor” gained access to some district systems in a suspected ransomware incident, the announcement said.

District staff responded by shutting down all systems to prevent further access. As a result, some systems needed to have school shut down, leading to Monday’s closure.

“We have been working with third-party cybersecurity experts and law enforcement today and will continue throughout the night,” the announcement said.

District officials said they plan to restore the systems as quickly as possible and will provide an update later on Monday.
