Langley comes to Oklahoma from Washington state, where he spent two years working in cybersecurity with the Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) organization. Langley will lead state cybersecurity efforts for the Information Services Division (ITD), which is part of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services.
In his new capacity, Langley will also oversee security policy, infrastructure, risk management and initiatives, as well as set the tone for the state’s cybersecurity direction, according to a job announcement. His responsibilities also include the Oklahoma Cyber Command, which operates from within the ITD, and the state security operations center, which is responsible for monitoring threats throughout the environment.
ITD works with more than 180 state agencies, boards and commissions as a central technology agency. Its most recent strategic plan says that the agency will continue modernizing legacy systems and expand real-time monitoring as part of continuing goals.
Langley succeeds former CISO Michael Toland, who left in July, according to LinkedIn. Toland is now a vice president of customer success for Anomali, a company that provides threat intelligence sharing.
Prior to this post, Langley was a network security architect for WaTech starting in 2023 and served as interim deputy CISO for security operations during the past year, according to LinkedIn. Langley was Washington’s Lottery CISO from 2019 to 2023, and he also has spent time in the private sector. He is an Army veteran.
